Good news

It was announced on Friday evening that I will be going to South Africa. All we have to do is get a letter from my consultant saying it is okay for me to fly and my dad has to ask the insurance company a few questions. It means a lot to me to be able to go and our God is so amazing, he has set everything out to allow this to happen.

SA Team

Minus one member of the team (Audrey) this is how we look now. It was great to be back with the team they have been working so hard over the past months raising funds anyway they could. Unfortunately I can’t be as involved as I want but at least now I can do my part by keeping everyone informed of future plans. Well done girls and keep going we’re almost there.

The Dream

Late last year our Captain, Catherine Hadley, felt the time was right to start moving forward with the idea of taking a mission team away.  Over the past few months we have been starting to ‘dream’ of what God wants us to do. And over the next few months we want to be able to set down a bit more of what project(s) we should undertake. At this stage projects could range from working with kids in local hospital/children’s home, daycare’s, painting & decorating etc. Through links already in place in South Africa, we hope to utilise these and have more details for you in the next couple of months. We are hoping to be staying around the Port Shepstone area of the Kwa-Zulu-Natal province. Our projects will also be within the South Coast area at this stage.

We have had a great response from our Leaders & Brigaders about the team which we are delighted with.  And although approximately only 15 people will be on the mission team, we as a G.B. Company will be serving & supporting the team in helping with fundraising, and idea’s to take out to South Africa.

Here are some pictures from the time Karen went out to Durban in 2005 showing you just what we could be doing.

Meet the Team

We feel that it is really important for you to get to know the team that you are helping to send out to South Africa. We all have different dreams, hopes and plans for the team and what we deem is going to happen. We believe that there is a reason why God is sending each and everyone of us on this trip. Hopefully this section will enable you to become closer to the team and guide you as to how we need your support.

Leaders

Karen Magee (Team Leader)

“Is it too much of a cliche to say “we can change the world!”? I don’t think so. If everyone did something good to serve someone else wouldn’t that be fantastic and have an incredible impact?? As we work towards South Africa next year I pray that we will really live out our GB motto to “Seek, Serve and Follow Christ”. I can’t wait to see what God is going to do in each of our lives and of those that we serve. Greater things are yet to come…”

Leah Batchelor (Co-Leader)

“I dream that by the little things that we do we will be able to facilitate a child having a day that they will always remember. Also having the opportunity to transform someone’s live and giving us the experience of what life is truly like at the other side of the world. I trust we can use these experiences in a positive way and give the community in South Africa what they need. The past year has made me want to be part of the team even more. We’ve known about the trip for about 2 years and the excitement within had grown as we talked about when it would happen. Then in September when I started to come round I honestly believed the trip was over for me but I didn’t admit that to anyone I just prayer harder and harder. Within the last few weeks things have happened to allow me to go. As I previously stated I was always excited at the prospect of this trip but that was nothing compared to what I feel now. I literally can’t wait to see how God will use me and how he will use the other members of the team. I don’t know what he will do but I know the impact on our lives will be massive that is as long as we all go with the right attitude and our hearts are open to hear what he wants us to do.”

Only 15 people are physically going to South Africa but it is important to remember that this involves the entire company who are the driving force behind us and they will ensure our dream stays alive.

Please share what your dream is for the team.
